Understanding Mudras:
Mudra, a Sanskrit term meaning "gesture" or "seal," signifies joy and creation. Originating in Hinduism and Buddhism, Mudras are a silent language of self-expression through hand gestures and finger positions. They are utilized in various disciplines, including Yoga, Meditation, and Dance (e.g., 200 in Bharatanatyam, 250 in Mohiniattam, and 108 in Tantric rituals).
Mudras create a closed energy circuit, balancing the body's five elements (represented by the fingers: Fire-Thumb, Air-Index, Sky-Middle, Earth-Ring, Water-Little). Imbalances disrupt immunity, leading to illness. By connecting fingers to the thumb, these imbalances are corrected.
Daily practice (5-45 minutes) with proper pressure, touch, posture, and breathing is recommended. However, remember that lifestyle, diet, and eating habits also play a crucial role in the effectiveness of Mudras.
