Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute play sessions. He stated that the limited playtime doesn't allow sufficient opportunity for players to leave or read messages.
This change is notable, given the significant role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. The game promises a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the atmospheric depth and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
