Lokko: A New 3D Platformer from India's Appy Monkeys, Powered by Sony
Appy Monkeys, an Indian game developer, in collaboration with Sony's India Hero Project, is bringing us Lokko, a vibrant 3D platformer. This exciting title features cross-play functionality across mobile, PC, and PS5, with DualShock controller support on all platforms.
India's burgeoning game development scene is often overlooked, but Lokko, along with other promising titles like Indus Battle Royale, showcases its growing potential. Developed through Sony's India Hero Project, an incubator supporting Indian developers, Lokko offers a unique blend of features. Players will deliver pizzas while battling the Goobol food corporation, utilizing intuitive level editors and a deep character customization system.
Lokko in Action
Lokko shares similarities with successful games like Roblox, boasting character customization, user-generated content (level creation), and a stylized low-poly art style. However, its partnership with PlayStation gives it a significant advantage and the potential to become a strong competitor in the platforming genre.
The gameplay, while not revolutionary, is polished and engaging. Appy Monkeys' work on Lokko is impressive, and the India Hero Project shows great promise for future Indian game development.
While a precise release date is yet to be announced (though expected sometime this year), Lokko is definitely one to watch. In the meantime, check out another fantastic cross-platform indie title, Dredge, from Black Salt Games!
