Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Utilizing Cursed Possessions
Phasmophobia's most dangerous ghosts often require equally risky tools for identification, such as Cursed Possessions. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high-reward, high-risk gameplay mechanic. This guide details its acquisition and usage.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By inserting pins one by one, you instigate ghost activity, making it particularly useful for elusive or unresponsive entities. This can lead to the manifestation of evidence like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints.
Ten pins are available for insertion. However, each pin carries a sanity cost: 5% per pin, totaling 50% sanity loss if all pins are used. This significantly increases the risk of a ghost hunt.
The most significant risk lies in the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt in close proximity to the player.
Despite the inherent risks, the potential for expedited evidence gathering makes the Voodoo Doll a viable option for well-prepared teams.
Understanding Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia
Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are unique items randomly appearing on any map, with frequency potentially influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode. Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while gathering evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, but at a considerable cost to player safety.
The risk-reward ratio varies between objects. Players and teams must weigh the potential benefits against the dangers. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them, and only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
