Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after player backlash. A hotfix, 4.1, will revert the changes starting October 24th, 2024. This follows negative reviews and community outcry over the significant gameplay alterations.
Developer Saber Interactive responded to player concerns by announcing the creation of public test servers, planned for early 2025. The goal is to allow for community feedback before major updates are implemented. The studio acknowledged that Patch 4.0, intended to increase difficulty by boosting enemy numbers, inadvertently made lower difficulties too challenging.
Hotfix 4.1 will specifically:
- Revert Extremis enemy spawn rates to pre-Patch 4.0 levels across Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties; significantly reducing them on Ruthless.
- Increase player armor by 10% on Ruthless difficulty.
- Buff bots, increasing their boss damage by 30%.
- Substantially buff Bolt weapons, with damage increases ranging from 5% to 20% across various Bolt weapon types (see detailed breakdown below).
Bolt Weapon Damage Increases (Hotfix 4.1):
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
The developers will continue monitoring player feedback after Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers aims to prevent similar controversies in the future.
