Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Following his experience with Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test, Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won expressed a renewed sense of inspiration during the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC). In a conversation with Eurogamer, Choi, who has long admired FromSoftware's creations, reflected on the impact of Nightreign. "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new," Choi remarked, noting the innovative approach of FromSoftware and how it spurred him to enhance the Overture experience.
Choi also revealed his openness to exploring new genres, particularly multiplayer games. "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future," he stated, signaling a potential shift in the studio's focus.
Despite his admiration for FromSoftware, Choi emphasized to Games Radar+ that his inspirations are diverse. "I'm a fan of many, many types of games," he said, explaining how he integrates a variety of influences into crafting the unique experience of Lies of P.
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC is designed to take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete. This expansion, rich with bosses and additional content, aims to fulfill the developers' original vision for Lies of P. "Overture is not a complete separate piece from the base game," Choi explained, highlighting the seamless integration and the challenge of expanding the game's universe.
Overture serves as a prequel, set in the final days of Krat, allowing players to explore as a legendary Stalker. This DLC incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and concepts initially left out due to development constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director’s Cut, completing the Lies of P experience.
He acknowledged the support from the community following the base game's release, which motivated the team to deliver a comprehensive expansion. "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize... to do the best quality," Choi said, emphasizing their commitment to excellence.
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at GDC 2025, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not directly connect to the final cutscene of the base game. While the base game's ending hinted at future directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in development, though specifics about Lies of P 2 remain undisclosed.
Choi assured fans that any future announcements would be made when the team is ready to share high-quality content. "When we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you," he promised, emphasizing their focus on quality amidst development pressures.
Choi encouraged players to revisit the base game, noting that it contains hints about the Overture DLC. He also mentioned being intrigued by fan theories online, some of which have come close to the mark.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, without a specific date yet announced. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting addition to the Lies of P universe.
