Dune: Awakening Coming on May 20
No Early Access and No Monthly Subscription
Dune: Awakening's developer, Funcom, has confirmed that the game will fully launch on May 20, bypassing an early access phase. A recent blog post on Steam dated March 21 shed light on the game's business model, system requirements, and plans for post-launch support.
The multiplayer survival game will not require a monthly subscription. Instead, Funcom plans to keep the game fresh with free updates that introduce new content, features, and enhancements. The developer emphasized their commitment to long-term support, citing their successful track record with live service games. Funcom's portfolio includes Anarchy Online, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, and Conan Exiles, which continues to receive regular free updates, DLCs, and expansions.
