Wolcen Unveils "ExtrAction RPG" Project Pantheon, Blending Diablo and Escape from Tarkov

Wolcen Studio has exciting news for gaming enthusiasts with the announcement of Project Pantheon, a groundbreaking free-to-play combat role-playing game that ingeniously incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The studio is set to launch the first closed alpha testing phase for European players on January 25, with North American gamers joining the fray on February 1.

According to game director Andrei Cirkulete, "We've blended the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." This innovative mix suggests a fusion of influences from games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will step into the shoes of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. They'll face off against AI adversaries and other players while navigating diverse maps. Success in evacuation means securing valuable trophies, but failure results in the loss of all gathered loot.

Project Pantheon offers players the chance to build their own bases, customize their gear, and experiment with various playstyles. The game's setting draws inspiration from world mythologies, with the initial adventure taking place in "Destiny's Edge," a realm echoing Scandinavian legends. Despite being in its early alpha stage, Wolcen Studio is committed to engaging with the community to refine and enhance the game. The project's economy will be driven by player trading, adding another layer of interaction and strategy to the gameplay experience.
