Chrono Trigger-Inspired RPG "Threads of Time" Coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC
Riyo Games' upcoming turn-based JRPG, Threads of Time, a nostalgic yet modern homage to classic titles like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. While a release date remains unannounced, the game's reveal at Tokyo Game Show 2024 generated significant buzz, positioning it as a potential rival to Sea of Stars.
The PS5 and Nintendo Switch releases are currently unconfirmed.
Developed by indie studio Riyo Games, Threads of Time is a 2.5D pixel art adventure featuring a diverse cast of characters from various eras. Players will journey through time, from prehistoric dinosaurs to futuristic robots, uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the very timeline itself. The retro-style gameplay is enhanced by modern anime-style cutscenes, creating a visually stunning experience.
The charming party members include Rye, a swordsman from 1000 AD; Bo, a veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC; Rin, a kitsune from 2400 AD; and more.
Riyo Games stated in their press release, "Riyo Games’ vision is to craft retro-infused RPGs that awaken treasured childhood memories. It all started with a promise between two kids, huddled next to their CRT TV playing RPGs after school, to one day create fantastical, story-rich adventures together."
