It's important to note that while *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusively accessible to PC players. If you're on a PC, accessing the public test server is straightforward through Steam, without any complicated steps.

To join, simply navigate to your Steam library and look for *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*. The public test server should appear right below the main game as a separate entry. Remember, you must own a copy of *Space Marine 2* on Steam to see this option. Once you've located the public test server, download and install it. It will have its own set of files, distinct from the main game.

The *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server offers a sneak peek at new content for both PvE and PvP modes, including new weapons and customization options. The bulk of the updates are focused on PvE, featuring a new map, relaxed class restrictions on weapons, and tweaks to online gameplay features. Keep in mind, the content, especially the PvE additions, is still in development and may undergo significant changes before its official release.

In terms of online gameplay, the public test server introduces enhanced matchmaking for both PvE and PvP modes, with a focus on team balancing. The PvE matchmaking aims to minimize instances of players choosing the same class ending up on the same team, and includes a unique prestige leveling system. Meanwhile, the PvP mode boasts expanded customization options in its lobby to enrich the multiplayer experience.

For those with mods installed for *Space Marine 2*, be aware that these will not work in the public test server. Additionally, while you can create and customize content using the available assets on the test server, this content won't carry over to the main game. There's no official confirmation yet on whether progression or content from the test server will transfer to the main game, but it's not anticipated.
