Netflix Cancels 'Stories', Keeps Old Content

Authore: AaliyahUpdate:Apr 06,2025

Netflix has reportedly decided to cancel its Netflix Stories franchise, marking a surprising shift away from its narrative-driven series. Popular titles such as Love is Blind, Perfect Match, and Virgin River will remain accessible to players, but no new entries in the series will be developed.

This decision is significant from a business perspective, which is why our sister site initially covered it. However, it's also of great interest and concern to players, as it raises questions about the future direction of Netflix Games.

Initially, it appeared that Netflix was moving towards more narrative-driven games that could complement its television and film offerings, shifting away from indie games. The cancellation of Netflix Stories, however, suggests a halt to this strategy, prompting speculation about other potential changes.

ytSomeone will payWhile I won't speculate on drastic changes like turning Netflix Games into a separate subscription service, as Craig from .biz noted, Netflix Stories was significantly less popular compared to hits like GTA: San Andreas and Squid Game Unleashed.

Given this, it's possible that Netflix might pivot back to focusing on ports and new, more engaging releases outside the narrative genre. Paige from .biz recently suggested that party games could be a new focus for Netflix's gaming catalog. Could we see something like Jackbox games? This was a topic Will and I discussed on the latest episode of the Pocket Gamer Podcast, so stay tuned for more insights.

Despite these changes, there are still plenty of games to enjoy. Check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week for some great options!
