Cyberpunk 2077 Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once thrilled at the prospect of an ambitious DLC set on the Moon, a plan that was unfortunately shelved by CD Projekt RED. Thanks to the diligent work of blogger and dataminer SirMZK, fans have gained insight into what this cosmic expansion could have entailed through leaks and files extracted from the game's code.

Within the game's data, there are references to lunar surface maps, designated areas such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and a rover model. The Moon was envisioned to be a vast open-world area, potentially occupying a quarter of Night City's size. This expansion would have introduced a new layer to the gameplay, transporting players from the familiar neon-lit streets to the lunar landscape.

A standout feature of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Though it didn't make it into the final game, players can spot the Crystal Palace in one of the endings when V gazes out of a spaceship window. Furthermore, files uncovered a prototype for a zero-gravity bar connected to a cut quest named "201," which was linked to the Arasaka storyline.

The gaming community remains hopeful that these intriguing concepts might find a new life in CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there's no official word yet from the studio about repurposing these ideas.

Although the Moon DLC remains a dream unfulfilled, the unearthed details offer a captivating glimpse into what might have been—a daring venture for Cyberpunk 2077 that would have pushed the boundaries of the game into the realm of space exploration, all while maintaining its distinctive cyberpunk flair.
