Understanding Çanak Okey's Unique Feature: The Bowl

The "bowl" is a prize pot built up by the dealer at the start of each round. Extra money is added based on table values. Winning by playing an okey or achieving a double win earns you this bowl bonus in addition to your standard winnings.

Gameplay Mechanics:

Çanak Okey is typically a four-player game. A cue stick assists in tile sorting. Tiles are in four colors (Red, Black, Yellow, Blue), numbered 1-13, plus two jokers. There are 106 tiles in total.

• Tile Distribution: Tiles are shuffled and dealt automatically; the player to the dealer's left receives 15 tiles, others receive 14.
• Tile Arrangement: Players arrange tiles into pairs or sets.
• Indicator Tile: The remaining tiles are placed in the center; the top tile is the indicator. The okey tile matches the indicator's color and number.
• Okey Use: The okey tile can substitute for any tile. Winning with an okey doubles your points.
• Normal Tile Arrangement: Players aim for at least three pairs, with two distinct pairing types: sequential same-color sets and same-number sets of different colors.
• Pair Formation Win: Winning involves forming seven pairs and discarding the final tile.
• Indicator Rule: The starting player checks for an indicator tile; if it's an okey of a different color, they lose 2 points.
• Game End Scoring: Winning without an okey is a normal finish. Winning with an okey deducts 4 points (or 2 if not okey colored) from other players. Winning with seven pairs deducts 4 points. A color completion (1-13 of one color) results in a zero score for other players. Winning with all same-color tiles (not sequential) deducts 8 points.
