The Last Knight is a side quest accessible after completing Chapter 2 of the main storyline (specifically, the "What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing" quest). It's recommended to finish Chapter 2, Act 3 before exploring Rinascita, as many side quests are locked until then.
Starting the Quest
Locate Cosimo in Egla Town, Whisperwind Haven. He's near the first house by the main road, marked by a blue quest marker on your map.
The Night Reveries Performance
This involves defeating the Mad Knight, who only appears at night (18:00 to 06:00). Find him at the town's central pool. He's not a particularly difficult opponent.
Mimic Chest Challenge
After defeating the Mad Knight, locate Carlow near a large purple flower at the town's tallest tower. Touching the flower transports you to an area with mimic chests. The genuine chest is the second one in the middle-left. Open it for rewards, then prepare to fight the remaining mimic chests.
Following the Knight's Trail
Follow quest markers, interacting with NPCs. This leads to an encounter with a unique Chop Chop accompanied by invulnerable Leftless and Rightless enemies. A Questless Knight Echo is recommended to parry and stun the Chop Chop.
After defeating the Chop Chop, Mr. Millkeeper reveals the "Mad Knight" legend was a fabrication.
Finding Carlow
Return to Egla Town during the day and find Carlow in a town plaza. He'll be challenged by knights, leading to a pivotal moment where he renounces the fantasy and embraces his role as a protector. The quest concludes after Carlow accepts the duel. You'll receive Union XP, Astrites, and resources.
