Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down

Sad news for global players of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the End of Service (EOS) for the game's global version, effective March 28th, 2025. This comes just over a year after its January 2024 launch. The Japanese version, however, remains operational and is even preparing for its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, a stark contrast to the global server's closure.

The Inevitable End:

The global server's shutdown coincides with the Japanese server's anniversary celebrations – a rather ironic twist. While Japanese players will be progressing through Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will conclude their journey with Chapter 21 (Part 1). In-game purchases are already disabled, but existing Lodestar Gems can still be used until the final day. Koei Tecmo promises additional content and events leading up to the shutdown. The announcement comes shortly after the global version's first anniversary on January 25th.

Reasons for Closure:

The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the primary reason for the closure. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing about the gacha system, gameplay mechanics, and aggressive monetization strategies almost immediately after launch. These factors, coupled with significant power creep, ultimately led to the decision to shut down the global server.

Players wishing to bid farewell can still access the game on the Google Play Store. Meanwhile, those seeking a new mobile gaming experience might consider checking out the current Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year event.
