Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, the first trailer for The Witcher 4 has arrived, introducing Ciri as the new protagonist. For those unfamiliar, Ciri is Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shifts to the next generation.
The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a superstitious ritual, where a young woman is slated for sacrifice to appease a monster. Ciri's intervention reveals a far more complex and sinister situation than initially perceived.
While no official release date has been announced, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077 (even longer), and the early stage of Witcher 4's production, a 3-4 year wait is a reasonable expectation.
Platform exclusivity remains unconfirmed, but given the anticipated release timeframe, a current-generation console focus is likely. PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC releases are anticipated, but a Switch port seems less probable, though a potential Switch 2 release may be feasible.
