Tides of Annihilation, drawing inspiration from Arthurian legend, casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman battling alongside spectral knights to rescue her family and mend a fractured world.
The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Players will confront relentless enemy hordes alongside their ghostly allies. Massive, roaming knights form the game's primary antagonists, demanding strategic combat that involves scaling and engaging in intense close-quarters battles.
While boasting impressive visuals, Tides of Annihilation currently lacks a compelling narrative hook. Recent soulslike games have successfully reimagined classic stories – "Journey to the West" offered a fresh perspective to Western audiences, and Lies of P provided a unique twist on Pinocchio. However, the King Arthur narrative feels overused and familiar. Despite its visual appeal, the game unfortunately lacks the originality to truly stand out.
