Star Wars: Hunters has announced its impending shutdown before even reaching its first anniversary. However, the game will still get to celebrate its one-year milestone before the curtains close. This raises an interesting question: Is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are set to officially shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have been given a grace period to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is releasing a final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce Tuya, the last new Support Hunter, available for free. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. If you have any unspent Crystals, make sure to use them, as there will be no refunds offered.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's disappointing, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters doesn't come as a surprise. The game faced numerous challenges from the start. Initially announced in 2020, it suffered multiple delays, and beta tests were limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions. The delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a tepid reception contributed to the decision to shut down Star Wars: Hunters. Even the game's design missed a golden opportunity. With the rich tapestry of iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, the choice to focus on generic original characters instead of beloved legends was a misstep.
If you've uninstalled the game but are considering one last playthrough, Star Wars: Hunters is still available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
