In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, some side tasks can be easy to overlook, leading to failure if not completed during the right time frame. One such crucial side quest is "Rosa's Book," which you'll want to complete to enhance your gameplay experience, including the possibility of romancing Rosa. Here's how to navigate this quest seamlessly.
Unlocking the Rosa's Book Side Quest
To initiate "Rosa's Book," you first need to complete the quest "Via Argentum" and begin "Taking French Leave." During "Taking French Leave," after assisting the Ruthard family with Vavak, either through force or persuasion, you'll be directed to speak with Rosa. She'll inform you about a secret passage into Maleshov that can be used to rescue Hans. It's at this point that Rosa will request you to retrieve a specific book for her. Make sure to ask her about the book and promise to bring it back to officially start the "Rosa's Book" quest.
Remember, you must complete this quest while progressing through "Taking French Leave." If you leave Maleshov with Hans without securing the book, the quest will fail, and your chance to romance Rosa will vanish. Fortunately, the book is conveniently located on your path to Hans' room.
Upon entering Maleshov, head to the largest tower where Hans is held. Access it via the stairs on the side of the building leading to the entrance. Once inside, you'll find another set of stairs and a kitchen nearby. Use the kitchen as a hiding spot until the guards upstairs finish their conversation and leave.
After the guards depart, quietly ascend the stairs to a room where you'll encounter Lady Ofka, who is facing the fireplace. Sneak up behind her to knock her out, then take the keys from her, the keys from the podium, and the sword from the chest in her room. Within this room, locate Rosa's book to the right of the fireplace, placed in a window alcove. Picking up the red book will update your quest to return it to Rosa.
Before leaving, don't forget to grab another sword from the chest in the adjacent room. This will save you time later when you need two weapons for Hans and his unexpected guest. Once you've collected everything, proceed to the top level, unlock the door on the left, and trigger a cutscene.
After the cutscene, continue with "Taking French Leave." Although Hans is reluctant to use the passageway, you can pursue a romantic storyline with him by selecting the heart dialogue option, provided you've made similar choices in Trosky. From there, sneak to the north side stables of Maleshov, dealing with guards as necessary. Clear a safe path, signal Hans, and ensure he reaches the stables without incident.
Once you open the gate, another cutscene will conclude the quest. Afterward, return to Kuttenberg City and stop by Ruthard Palace to deliver Rosa's much-desired book, completing the "Rosa's Book" quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
