Navigating the perilous landscapes of Eora in *Avowed* is made easier with the right company by your side. With a total of four Companions, each brings their unique personality and upgradable abilities to the table. Here's a comprehensive guide to every Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*.
Kai
Kai is among the first Companions you'll meet in *Avowed*. Although you can encounter two characters during the tutorial level, Kai becomes a full-fledged member of your party early on. You'll meet him at the port in Dawnshore near Paradis. He approaches you directly on the dock, and you team up to find the Ambassador and the Cleric. Kai remains with you until you recruit three Companions, at which point you can swap him out at a Party Camp.
In *Avowed*, Kai is a formidable ex-mercenary known for his resilience and combat prowess. He serves as a tank, capable of both sustaining and dealing significant damage. Additionally, Kai's fire abilities can clear obstacles like cobwebs and roots, revealing hidden pathways and valuable loot.
Kai's upgradable abilities include:
- Fire and Ire, Active: Kai unleashes a powerful shot from his blunderbuss, causing high stun and taunting an enemy for 10 seconds.
- Unbending Defense, Active: Kai regenerates his health and boosts his damage reduction by 25%.
- Leap of Daring, Active: Kai performs a stunning leap onto enemies, taunting all nearby foes.
- Second Win, Passive: Upon reaching zero health, Kai revives himself, restoring 50% of his maximum health.
Marius
Marius is your second Companion in *Avowed*, and he shares a history with Kai. You'll find him in Dawnshore, where you can join him at a bar to either negotiate or fight your way out of a confrontation with some NPCs.
As an expert hunter and tracker, Marius brings a unique skill set to your party. His Hunter Sense ability aids in locating loot and crafting materials across the Living Lands. In combat, Marius utilizes a bow and arrow alongside daggers and can manipulate nature to ensnare enemies with Roots.
Marius' upgradable abilities include:
- Binding Roots, Active: Marius roots an enemy in place for 8 seconds.
- Heart Seeker, Active: Marius fires a piercing shot that unerringly hits its target, passing through obstacles.
- Shadow Step, Active: Marius disappears into a cloud of smoke, reappearing to slash an enemy up to three times.
- Wounding Shots, Passive: Marius' attacks cause bleeding.
Giatta
Giatta is the third Companion you'll recruit, found later in the main quest at the Fior settlement in the Emerald Stair Region. As an animancer, she practices a controversial form of magic within the Living Lands.
Giatta plays a crucial role in unraveling the spiritual mysteries central to *Avowed*'s Main Quest. In combat, she serves as a support, offering healing, shielding, and buffs to allies. Her unique ability, Spectral Jolt, can activate Essence Generators, unlocking hidden pathways and loot.
Giatta's upgradable abilities include:
- Purification, Active: Giatta emits a wave of energy, healing all allies by 25% of their maximum health.
- Barrier, Active: Giatta grants all allies a temporary health shield for 20 seconds.
- Acceleration, Active: Giatta boosts the movement and attack speed of all allies for 15 seconds.
- Reconstruction, Passive: Giatta's attacks provide minor healing to all allies.
Yatzli
Yatzli is the final Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*, joining your party during a main quest in the Shatterscarp region within the city of Thirdborn. Although you can encounter her earlier in the world, she officially joins your team later.
Like Giatta, Yatzli wields magic, but her focus is on dealing damage. Her spells are potent against both single targets and crowds, and she can clear obstacles to aid in exploration across the Living Lands.
Yatzli's upgradable abilities include:
- Essence Explosion, Active: Yatzli's arcane power explodes upon contact, releasing Essence and causing explosive damage.
- Minoletta’s Missile Battery, Active: Yatzli launches a volley of arcane missiles that target nearby enemies.
- Arduos Delay of Motion, Active: Yatzli manipulates arcane energy to slow an enemy for 10 seconds.
- Blast, Passive: Yatzli's attacks create a small area of effect upon impact.
These are all the Companions you can recruit in *Avowed*, each with their unique abilities and roles to enhance your journey through the Living Lands. *Avowed* is now available on PC and Xbox.
