Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The year kicks off with the first game drop, aptly named "Spring to Life," set to launch on March 25. This update aims to breathe new life into the Overworld by introducing immersive enhancements to biomes. Players can expect to see new variants of familiar mobs such as cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside enchanting ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, the gentle fall of leaves, and the subtle whispers of sand, making exploration even more rewarding.
The second game drop, while still unnamed, promises intriguing additions to the Minecraft universe. A new block, the Dried Ghast, will make its debut, which players can rehydrate to create a Ghastling—a smaller, baby version of the classic Ghast. With care and feeding, the Ghastling can evolve into the Happy Ghast, a new mob variant. The introduction of the Ghast harness allows up to four players to ride this friendly creature, offering a unique way to traverse the game world.
Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade for Minecraft called "Vibrant Visuals." Described as the first step towards realizing the developers' vision, this upgrade aims to enhance the visual experience without altering gameplay. In addition, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event, starting on March 25, will take place in Midport Village, where players can join forces with Steve and his movie companions to defend against a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. Participants who complete all challenges by April 7 will be rewarded with the coveted Yearn cape.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on various topics, including why they won't be creating a Minecraft 2, keeping the game from being free-to-play, and their decision against using generative AI for game development.
