Surfer Jay, a powerful recruit found in Honolulu, significantly boosts your crew's capabilities. However, acquiring him requires a bit more effort than other crew members. The order of these steps isn't critical, but obtaining the necessary item in Madlantis first simplifies the process.
First, set sail for Madlantis. Once docked, head to the arcade games near the Madlantis Golf Range. You'll find a UFO Catcher game containing a blue plush—Kraken-Chan—crucial to recruiting Surfer Jay. Note that Kraken-Chan isn't always available; if not, speak to the attendant to change the prizes.
Winning Kraken-Chan might require several attempts. Stock up on cash and strategically use the claw machine to nudge the plush into the collection slot. Once you've secured Kraken-Chan, return to your ship, the Goromaru, and set a course for Honolulu.
