Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week

Authore: OwenUpdate:Mar 18,2025

Sony is reportedly planning its usual February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. Leaker NateTheHate, who accurately predicted the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date, hinted at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10th-14th).

So, what might Sony unveil? Let's consider its announced 2025 releases. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei has a 2025 release window; a gameplay reveal and release date announcement are possibilities. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, could also appear, especially if playtesting is planned for this year. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, is another contender. While less likely, Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine could get a mention. A new trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (also slated for 2025) is a strong possibility.

We're unlikely to see the recently canceled live-service games. Last month, Sony canceled two unannounced live-service titles from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (reportedly a God of War live-service game). Bend Studio's project remains undisclosed. However, Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon game reportedly survived the cuts—could this finally be revealed?

Regarding third-party announcements, Kojima's Physint (a stealth-action PlayStation exclusive) might be too early for a showing, but Phantom Blade Zero (a hack-and-slash action RPG from S-Game) is more likely.

Let's not forget Microsoft's PlayStation presence. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is launching soon on PS5; a release date could be announced. Could Microsoft even use State of Play to announce Halo on PlayStation?

Looking back at last year's State of Play offers clues. It featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine's Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
