Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
The highly anticipated Switch 2 version of Deltarune was unveiled during the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. This version will not only include Chapters 3 and 4 but also introduce exclusive features tailored for the next-generation console.
In a Fangamer newsletter, Deltarune creator Toby Fox revealed that the Switch 2 version will feature a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" designed to utilize the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Fox explained, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For players without a Switch 2, this special room will still be accessible, albeit with a different control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a smooth transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox announced that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99, covering Chapters 1 through 4. Initially released in 2018, Chapter 1 was followed by Chapter 2 in 2021, both offered for free. Although it was previously stated that Chapters 3-5 would be paid, Fox has now confirmed that all future chapters will be added as free updates. He expressed his hope that, "as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's soundtrack will also be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs in the upcoming Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters will see additional songs added for free, enhancing the value proposition of Deltarune.
