Rebel Wolves studio has unveiled details about their upcoming vampire RPG, highlighting the central theme of duality in their protagonist. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz describes the character as a modern-day Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a concept largely unexplored in video games. This duality, he believes, will offer a unique and surreal gaming experience.
A key aspect of this duality is the character's periods of ordinary, powerless humanity, contrasting sharply with their vampiric abilities. This presents a creative challenge for the developers, as the absence of familiar RPG elements could confuse players accustomed to established mechanics.
Tomaszkiewicz acknowledges the inherent dilemma in RPG development: balancing innovation with established conventions. He cites the mixed reception to Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s unique save system as a cautionary tale, emphasizing the importance of carefully considering which game mechanics should be altered and which should remain familiar to players.
The game's gameplay premiere is slated for Summer 2025.
