Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration
Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event brings a comprehensive blog post detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.
The star of the show is The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This follows Season 1's Citadelle des Morts, adding another chapter to the Zombies universe in less than two weeks.
Treyarch's narrative summary explains that after the events of Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft's clues to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. The catacombs, built on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed until the early 1900s, hinting at a deeper mystery.
The map is described as enigmatic, linked to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, though further details remain scarce. Gameplay-wise, The Tomb offers a similar experience to Liberty Falls, featuring compact play spaces designed for high replayability and numerous Easter eggs.
Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon, inspired by previous entries, and the return of a classic SMG. Further details on these additions are yet to be revealed.
Significant quality-of-life improvements are also on the horizon, addressing long-standing community requests. These include tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer, a co-op pause option for Zombies, and the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout after being disconnected. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will also be implemented.

To commemorate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared statistics on the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played. The team highlighted the mode's success in boosting Main Quest completion rates, more than doubling the average since its launch.
The upcoming release of The Tomb will also bring renewed attention to the voice acting. Last month, Activision acknowledged the recasting of some beloved Zombies characters due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
