Grandma's Diary: The Great Escape Attempt

Oh, what a day it's been! That pesky prisoner thought they could outsmart me, but I've been around the block a few times, and I know a thing or two about keeping folks in line.

It all started this morning when I was baking my famous apple pie. I heard a rustle from the basement, and I knew right away what was up. That prisoner was trying to make a break for it! I quickly finished up my pie, set it on the windowsill to cool, and made my way downstairs.

There he was, fiddling with the lock on the basement door. I cleared my throat, and he froze like a deer in headlights. "Now, now, dearie," I said, "you wouldn't want to miss out on my apple pie, would you?" His eyes widened, and I could see the hunger in them. I knew I had him.

I led him back to his room, and we sat down for a nice chat over a slice of pie. I told him stories about the old days, and he seemed to relax. But I kept my eyes sharp, watching his every move. He tried to sneak out once more when I was distracted by the cat, but I caught him just in time.

"You're not going anywhere, young man," I said firmly. "Not on my watch." He sighed and sat back down, defeated. I gave him another slice of pie and a stern look. "You're staying put, and that's final."

And so, the day ended with the prisoner back in his room, and me feeling quite pleased with myself. No one escapes from Grandma's house, not when there's apple pie on the line!
