Xbox's Multi-Platform Push Expands: Halo and Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2
A recent report from reputable industry insider, NateTheHate, suggests a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy. The report claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are in development for both the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with potential releases slated for 2025.
This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to bring first-party titles to other consoles. Games like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves have already made the jump, alongside As Dusk Falls (published by Xbox Game Studios) and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also expected on PS5 in Spring 2025.
NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a compilation of six Halo games, is being ported to the PS5 and Switch 2. The same source also predicts a multi-platform release of a Microsoft Flight Simulator title, likely MFS 2024, also in 2025.
This news is further supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be arriving on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden believes the era of exclusive Xbox titles is effectively over.
The future multi-platform release of the Call of Duty franchise is also highly anticipated. Microsoft's ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles, announced in late 2022, is likely awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2 to fully realize its potential. This suggests a broader industry shift towards wider game availability across platforms.
