Xbox Developer Direct 2025: A January Showcase of Upcoming Titles

Microsoft has announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox game showcase of 2025 and the third installment of this annual event. The announcement, rumored earlier in January, confirms the showcase will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.

The event will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Confirmed Games:

Microsoft has confirmed three games for the showcase:

  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), initially revealed in June 2023. A release date may finally be announced.
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, initially announced in June 2024. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, with rumors pointing towards a mid-2025 launch.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

Previous Xbox Developer Directs have run for over 40 minutes, showcasing multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds additional unannounced surprises. The 2024 showcase featured titles like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect similar breadth in this year's presentation.
