This guide details the Shadow of the Past quest in Wuthering Waves, focusing on locating and completing each of the three Thorncrown Rises towers. Botim, located south of the Rinascita-Ragunna-Thessaleo Fells northern Resonance Beacon, initiates this quest by explaining the tower's shadowy monster infestation and offering rewards for their removal.

Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise
Begin this sub-quest by speaking with Itzel, east of the Resounding Rise tower. The tower's challenge involves navigating its interior, defeating Abyssal Mercators, and correctly arranging paintings. Specific steps include:
- Interact with the hallway painting to proceed.
- Follow quest markers, defeating Abyssal Mercators along the way.
- Collect supply chests in the north, west, and east rooms.
- Navigate through additional paintings, facing more enemies.
- Solve the painting puzzle:
- Move the top-left painting to the bottom-right.
- Move the painting behind the top-left display to the bottom-left.
- Move the top-right painting to the top-left.
- Move the painting behind the bottom-right to the top-right.
- Claim the Premium Supply chest.
- Defeat a final Abyssal Mercator and collect the Tidal Supply chest from Itzel. This weakens a Command Rise Tower barrier.
Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise
Travel southeast to the Twilight Rise tower and speak with Insula to enter. This sub-quest involves a time loop. Follow these steps:
- Investigate the marked clues.
- Speak with Insula.
- Enter the secret passage under the elevator.
- Defeat the Abyssal Patricius.
- Collect the supply chest and continue, facing the Abyssal Patricius again.
- Speak with Insula and claim the Tidal Supply chest.
Completing this weakens the second Command Rise Tower barrier.
Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise
This sub-quest automatically begins after completing the previous two.
- Speak with Insula and Itzel at the camp northeast of the Command Rise Tower.
- Use the Wingray to fly to the tower.
- Enter the tower and follow the quest markers.
- Collect supply chests along the way, utilizing the grapple to ascend.
- Defeat the Abyssal Patricius.
- Use the chandelier mechanism to reach the top.
- Speak with Insula and Itzel, then use the portal to confront the Abyssal Patricius.
- Claim the Call of the Abyss Rectifier and Premium Supply chest.
Leaving via the portal and speaking with Insula and Itzel awards the King of Thessaleo and Shadow of the Tower achievements.
