Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rumored for Version 5.4 Rerun After Year-Long Absence
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley, the Cryo Catalyst character, will finally receive his first rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4. This comes after a considerable wait of over a year since his initial release in Version 4.1. The extensive roster of over 90 playable characters presents a significant scheduling challenge for miHoYo, making fair rerun distribution difficult. With limited banner slots and a high demand for character reruns, the current system struggles to accommodate all characters annually.
While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, its effectiveness remains debated. Even with this addition, some characters, like Shenhe, experienced lengthy delays before their reruns. Until the implementation of triple banners, extended wait times between character reruns are likely to persist.
Wriothesley, a strong Cryo hypercarry, has been highly sought after since his last appearance on November 8, 2023. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his return in Version 5.4. However, it's crucial to approach this information cautiously, given Flying Flame's mixed track record with previous leaks.
Despite this uncertainty, the recent Spiral Abyss buff favorably impacts Wriothesley's gameplay, lending some credence to the rumor. Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If the leak proves accurate, Wriothesley and Mizuki might share an Event Banner, with the other half potentially featuring either Furina or Venti—the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4 is projected to launch on February 12, 2025.
