Snapchat's 2024 Snap Recap: A Year in Review
Looking back on the past year? Many apps offer year-end recaps, and Snapchat is joining the party with its new 2024 Snap Recap feature.
What is Snap Recap?
Unlike last year, Snapchat now offers a year-end summary. Similar to Spotify Wrapped or Twitch recaps, Snap Recap compiles your year's Snapchat data into a fun (and maybe slightly embarrassing) highlight reel. However, instead of detailed statistics, it showcases a randomly selected Snap from each month. It's a casual look back at your 2024, not a detailed performance analysis. The recap seamlessly transitions into other Memories features, including flashbacks from previous years, allowing for a more extensive trip down memory lane.
How to View Your 2024 Snap Recap
Accessing your recap is easy. On the main camera screen, swipe up to open Memories. (Don't press the shutter button!) Your 2024 Snap Recap should be prominently displayed as a highlighted video.
Tap the video (avoiding the share icon) to start the recap. After a brief intro, the selected Snaps will play automatically. You can tap the screen to advance if needed. You can save, edit, or share this recap like any other Snap, including posting it to your Story. It remains private unless you choose to share it.
Why Don't I Have a Snapchat Recap?
If your 2024 Snap Recap isn't appearing, there are a few reasons. Snapchat Support states that the rollout is gradual, so yours might not be ready yet. The number of saved Snaps is a factor; infrequent use might prevent a recap from generating. Unfortunately, you can't request one if it doesn't appear after waiting.
