The arrival of Black and White Kyurem fulfills a long-standing wish for many Pokémon GO players. Their potential to significantly impact the game's competitive landscape has generated considerable excitement. While a surprise early release occurred in 2023, their official debut within the Unova-themed GO Tour event is perfectly timed.
During the event (10 AM to 6 PM local time), trainers can participate in raids to encounter Black and White Kyurem. Beyond capturing these legendary Pokémon, a unique fusion mechanic is also introduced. Black Kyurem can be fused with Zekrom, requiring 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy. Similarly, White Kyurem can fuse with Reshiram using 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy. These fusions grant access to new attacks (Freeze Shock for Black Kyurem's fusion, and Ice Burn for White Kyurem's fusion) and are reversible at no cost. The necessary Fusion Energy is obtained by defeating Kyurem in raids.
Completing these fusions unlocks special event backgrounds themed after Pokémon Black and White. Unlocking both fusions grants access to a third, unique background.
