Should You Use Pebbles or Herring in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?

Authore: MiaUpdate:Mar 14,2025

You, as Henry, face a crucial decision: choosing your trusty steed from two contenders, Pebbles and Herring. The prologue cruelly strips you of your original horse, leaving you to rebuild your life, and your stable. Later, you'll have the opportunity to claim one of these two horses. So, which one should grace your stables in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?

How to Find Pebbles in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Your reunion with Pebbles occurs at the Semine estate, before the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes. She's waiting patiently in the stables, but acquiring her requires a purchase. This acquisition is crucial if you plan to ride her during your quest with Jan Semine, aptly titled "The Jaunt." Remember, Pebbles is more than just a horse; she's Henry's loyal companion, much like Mutt, who can also be found through side quests.

How to Obtain Herring in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Herring enters the picture after completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls." He becomes available as your new mount. If you haven't acquired another horse beforehand, Otto von Bergow generously gifts you Herring. However, if you already possess a horse and decide against Herring, you can sell him to nomad traders through Kabat for 300 Groschen.

At first glance, Herring's superior base stats might seem tempting. However, this initial advantage is deceptive. Each horse unlocks a perk that boosts its stats after a certain riding distance. This means those initially stronger horses don't always maintain their lead.

Ultimately, Pebbles emerges as the superior choice. While not boasting the highest stats even after her perk is activated, her lower acquisition cost and faster perk unlock (after 35 kilometers versus Herring's 50) make her incredibly cost-effective. Her boosted stats are impressive: 217 stamina, 353 capacity, 53 speed, and 12 courage. Furthermore, the sentimental value of her prior companionship with Henry adds another layer to her appeal.

When choosing between Pebbles and Herring in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Pebbles is the clear winner. With extensive travel ahead, a reliable steed is essential, and Pebbles proves to be the perfect companion for Henry's journey.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
