Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack: Four Retro Classics Arrive
Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo is adding four SNES games from the early 90s to its Switch Online library. This September update delivers beat 'em up action, high-speed racing, challenging puzzles, and intense dodgeball competition.
First up: the legendary crossover, Battletoads/Double Dragon. Team up with the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally an NES title (June 1993), then ported to SNES (December 1993), this marks Battletoads/Double Dragon's long-awaited return.
Next, Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West) brings the River City Ransom's Kunio-kun to the dodgeball court. Compete against global rivals in diverse arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each with unique challenges.
Initially released for Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will enjoy Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, strategically clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo high score challenge), VS Mode (head-to-head competition), and 100 Stage Mode (increasing difficulty). Line up containers horizontally and utilize descending blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially an arcade game (1992), it later appeared on Super Famicom (1993), various Virtual Consoles, and recently on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 via the Arcade Archives.
Finally, experience the thrill of Big Run! Race across diverse African terrains, from Tripoli to West Africa's swamps. Nine challenging stages test your driving skills, strategic thinking, and resource management. Choose your sponsor, build your team, and manage resources carefully – every mishap impacts your race against time.
