Experience Will's Journey in Manga Form
Fans of Metaphor: ReFantazio can now enjoy the first chapter of the official manga, available for free on MANGA Plus. This collaboration between Atlus and Shueisha features artwork by Yōichi Amano (known for Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony).
The manga takes creative liberties with the game's storyline, significantly altering the initial events. Key differences include the omission of a starting area from the game, the introduction of new events, and the restructuring of existing ones, impacting how the protagonist meets his allies. Importantly, the manga canonically confirms the protagonist's name as Will, aligning with the game's default name.
The next chapter is scheduled for release on February 19th, simultaneously with the Japanese version.
Critical Acclaim for Metaphor: ReFantazio
Developed by Studio Zero, led by Katsura Hashino (the director and producer behind the Persona series), Metaphor: ReFantazio introduces a new IP from Atlus. The game follows Will and his fairy companion, Gallica, as they embark on a quest to save the prince of Euchronia from a deadly curse. The assassination of the king throws the kingdom into turmoil, leading to a unique succession plan where the people choose the next leader. Will finds himself unexpectedly thrust into this pivotal role.
The game achieved phenomenal success, selling over one million copies worldwide on its launch day, surpassing even Persona 3: Reload as Atlus's fastest-selling title. It garnered widespread critical acclaim, receiving numerous awards, including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative at the 2024 Game Awards.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.
