Marvel Reportedly Pauses Work on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. TV Shows

Marvel Television has reportedly placed three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects lacked official greenlighting and their future remains uncertain, though Marvel's prioritization has shifted.

This strategic change coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, revealed an exploration of reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is currently focusing on developing a larger volume of shows than it produces, a cautious approach, as Winderbaum stated to Screen Rant last year: “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The Nova news is particularly unexpected, especially considering the recent announcement (just two months ago) of Ed Bernero, former Criminal Minds showrunner, as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed for Disney+. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.

Strange Academy, anticipated to center around the MCU's Doctor Strange's magic school under Wong's supervision, faces an uncertain future. Information regarding Terror, Inc. remains scarce.

Confirmed Marvel TV show release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, March 4th), Ironheart (June 24th), and Wonder Man (December). Following Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for release this year: Thunderbolts (May) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
