Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed strong support for a Killer7 sequel during a presentation with Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This sparked excitement among fans of the cult classic action-adventure game.
Mikami and Suda Hint at Killer7 Sequel and Remaster
Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond?
The Grasshopper Direct presentation, primarily focused on the upcoming *Shadows of the Damned* remaster, unexpectedly touched upon the future of Killer7. Mikami openly declared his desire for a sequel, calling the original one of his favorites. Suda51, the creative force behind Killer7, mirrored this enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel might indeed happen someday. He even playfully tossed around potential titles like "Killer11" and "Killer7: Beyond."Killer7, a 2005 GameCube and PlayStation 2 title, is known for its distinctive blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top violence. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of controlling seven distinct personalities, each with unique powers and weaponry. Despite its cult following, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced his interest in a more complete version of the original.
Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" to expand on the original vision, particularly fleshing out Coyote's dialogue. Mikami playfully countered this suggestion, but the team acknowledged the potential for a more comprehensive release.
The discussion ignited considerable fan interest. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' positive outlook has generated considerable excitement for the future of Killer7. The final decision, according to Suda51, rests on whether a "Killer7: Beyond" or a "Complete Edition" will come first.
