KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, is a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG and roguelite experience. This card deck-building adventure plunges players into a world brimming with magical books, strategic combat, and intriguing narratives.
Players assume the role of Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals, within the Ancient Library. Wright's journey involves delving into the stories contained within four enchanted books, each transporting him to a unique world. One book might see him aiding a princess knight in reclaiming a fallen kingdom, while another plunges him into the enigmatic mysteries of the underworld. The dynamic nature of the game ensures that every playthrough offers a fresh and unpredictable experience.
Gameplay Mechanics:
Novel Rogue features a turn-based card battle system that adapts to the specific book being explored. Each of the four worlds boasts its own unique deck-building mechanics. Players defeat enemies, select three new cards after each encounter, and strategically craft the ultimate deck for optimal combat effectiveness.
Additional gameplay elements include:
- Change Command: Allows players to redistribute damage among their allies.
- Novel Power: Enhances deck strength using ink.
- Deep Record Mode: Significantly increases dungeon difficulty for a more challenging experience.
Relationship building is also a key component. Players collect treasures to strengthen bonds with characters, potentially unlocking special endings. Furthermore, Witch Stones allow customization of character costumes.
