Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is now in the works.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality than ever before, following Reeves' confirmation of a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been trying to get this film made for over a decade, and we recently finalized a story and pitched it to DC Studios. They gave us the green light," Reeves revealed to Inverse. "So, we're moving forward with writing the script."

While this is promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran still need to officially approve the script. Constantine 2 isn't yet confirmed for the rebooted DCU, and neither Gunn nor Safran have publicly mentioned the project. Uncertainty remains.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain within the same universe as the original film. "We're staying true to the original," he assured fans, adding with a playful tone: "John Constantine will face even more torment."
Reeves' statement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September, who revealed that a Constantine 2 script existed but admitted his apprehension about reading it.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated the script was in his inbox, explaining, "It's funny, it's in my inbox right now. I'm too scared to read it, though; I want it to be so good. I'll probably read it in the next few days, when I'm on a plane."
