Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room.
A video posted on a GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $174,000 for his medical expenses and outstanding bills, reveals Johnson was in a coma. He expresses profound gratitude for the outpouring of support: "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you."
Johnson, also a Washington Capitals announcer, was in Atlanta for a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit event. His absence raised concerns, leading his wife to contact the hotel. Security personnel and EMTs found him with a barely detectable pulse.
He recounts the ordeal: "Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here." He credits his wife's quick thinking and the efforts of his son, friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, and his wife Kim for saving his life. The GoFundMe campaign, launched by these individuals, brought the overwhelming support to his attention.
Johnson extends his thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, Ted Leonsis (Washington Capitals parent company chairman) for a substantial donation, and Bethesda for their public show of support. He expresses his deep appreciation to fans, both those who donated and those who offered encouragement. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he assures them.
While recovery will take time, Johnson remains optimistic: "It's going to be a while as I work my way back, but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."
Beyond his extensive video game work with Bethesda, Johnson boasts a diverse career in film and television. His recent role as Ron Hope in Starfield adds to a long list of memorable characters, including Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, multiple Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among many others.
