Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, predicting massive first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games To Do Something Unexpected For GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the upcoming game, highlighting Rockstar Games' unpredictable nature and the promise of something truly special.
He reassured fans, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." Recalling GTA 5's impressive $800 million debut in 2013, Luke believes GTA 6 will significantly surpass its predecessor's launch figures. This prediction aligns with DFC Intelligence's projections, estimating over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue during the first year, with $1 billion attributed solely to pre-orders.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, perhaps, GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a "passing the torch" moment in an interview with ScreenRant (January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, no official confirmation exists regarding their characters' involvement in GTA 6.
GTA 6: Possibly in the Testing Phase
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York emphasized the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes GTA 6 is currently in its in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He speculates the game is playable and that numerous internal testers have likely completed playthroughs.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but has remained silent since. While a Fall 2025 release was previously rumored based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, no official release date has been announced.
