Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
Community suggestions ranged widely, including a Smash TV remake and various Star Fox-inspired concepts. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake was previously considered, and hinted at a Star Fox-esque "rail game."
While specifics remain under wraps, Arrowhead's engagement with its community is evident. The studio's next title faces high expectations following Helldivers 2's success as one of 2024's standout games.
Helldivers 2 itself recently received a major update, boosting player numbers significantly on PS5. The "Omens of Tyranny" expansion, surprise-released at the 2024 Game Awards, introduced the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. With a potential Killzone crossover also rumored, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
