Mastering Monster Capture in Monster Hunter Wilds
While battling monsters is exhilarating, capturing them is key to obtaining all their valuable parts. This guide details the monster capture process in Monster Hunter Wilds.
The Capture Process:
Weakening a monster is the first step. Your Palico will alert you when a monster is sufficiently weakened. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and observable signs of weakness like limping or drooling.
Once weak, strategically place a trap – either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Lure the weakened monster into the trap. Once trapped, quickly use Tranq Bombs. Usually one or two will suffice. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.
Successfully capturing a monster immediately ends the quest and returns you to Base Camp.
Obtaining Traps and Tranq Items:
While your Palico may occasionally set traps, it's advisable to carry your own.
- Pitfall Trap: Requires a Trap Tool and a Net (Spiderwebs or Ivy).
- Shock Trap: Requires a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
Tranquilizer items can be crafted:
- Tranq Bomb: Crafted using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom.
- Tranq Ammo/Tranq Blades: Tranq Bombs can be combined with Throwing Knives (for Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (for Tranq Ammo).
