Blizzard Unveils Six Warcraft Conventions Globally

Blizzard's Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour: A Global Celebration

Blizzard Entertainment is commemorating three decades of Warcraft with a worldwide tour featuring six fan conventions spanning February to May. These events promise live entertainment, exclusive activities, and opportunities to connect with Warcraft developers.

Following Blizzard's decision to forgo BlizzCon in 2024 and instead participate in events like Gamescom and host its inaugural Warcraft Direct, the World Tour represents a new approach to fan engagement. The tour celebrates significant milestones in the Warcraft universe, including World of Warcraft's 20th anniversary, Hearthstone's 10th, and Warcraft Rumble's first.

The six-city tour kicks off February 22nd in London, UK, and will subsequently visit Seoul, Toronto, Sydney, Sao Paulo, and culminating in Boston (during PAX East) on May 10th.

Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour Dates:

  • February 22 – London, United Kingdom
  • March 8 – Seoul, South Korea
  • March 15 – Toronto, Canada
  • April 3 – Sydney, Australia
  • April 19 – Sao Paulo, Brazil
  • May 10 – Boston, United States (during PAX East)

While details remain scarce, the conventions are expected to prioritize fan interaction and memorable experiences rather than major announcements. Expect live performances, unique activities, and developer meetups.

Ticket acquisition will differ from traditional conventions. Blizzard has indicated that tickets will be free but extremely limited, distributed via regional Warcraft channels. Fans are advised to monitor their regional channels for further information on obtaining tickets.

The future of BlizzCon remains uncertain. A potential late summer/early autumn BlizzCon could serve as a platform for showcasing content from the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion, including the anticipated player housing feature. However, Blizzard's shift away from an annual BlizzCon suggests a possible transition to a biennial model, similar to Final Fantasy XIV's Fan Festival. Regardless, the Warcraft World Tour promises a unique and engaging experience for fans.
