A fraudulent Baldur's Gate 3 mobile port has surfaced on the iOS App Store, prompting a warning to players. This fake app, deceptively similar to the actual game, is free initially but demands a substantial monthly subscription fee of $29.99. Furthermore, its terms of service raise concerns about potential user data collection, including IP addresses.
Crucially, no official mobile port of Baldur's Gate 3 exists. The scam app, titled "Baldurs Gate 3 - Mobile Turuk" and developed by "Dmytro Turuk," employs modified screenshots from the original game with a superimposed mobile HUD to enhance its deceptive appearance. The absence of any reference to Dungeons & Dragons or Larian Studios, the game's actual developer, should serve as a major red flag.
This isn't the first instance of a Baldur's Gate 3 imitation appearing on app stores. While currently undetected on the Android store, gamers on both platforms are urged to exercise caution. If an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is. Larian Studios has not announced plans for a mobile port, although earlier Baldur's Gate titles are available on mobile platforms. Baldur's Gate 3 itself can be streamed through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Users who have already downloaded the fraudulent app are strongly advised to uninstall it immediately to mitigate potential data breaches.
