However, Neil Druckmann's recent comments have surprised even the most dedicated fans.
During a joint interview with screenwriter Craig Mazin, Druckmann discussed both the HBO adaptation and the games themselves. He revealed his struggles following the sequel's release during the COVID-19 pandemic. Feeling unwell and isolated, he found himself overwhelmed by online discussions and reviews, leading to self-doubt and questioning the quality of his work.
When asked about a third installment, Druckmann admitted he'd anticipated the question. However, he stated that fans shouldn't expect another The Last of Us game, hinting that the series may have reached its conclusion.
