Digital Revolutionizing Devarattam: A Mobile App Tribute

This application, developed as part of the "Digital Revolution of Devarattam" project, pays homage to the rich tradition of Devarattam. The app is dedicated to Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kumararaman (retired teacher), and Kalaimanis Mr. M. Kannan Kumar and Mr. K. Nelai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti, recipients of the KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMAMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR awards, respectively. Further dedication extends to my Guru, Mr. E. Rajakamulu, and the cherished legends of Devarattam.

The primary goal of this app is to promote Devarattam and its esteemed awardees. The app features detailed descriptions of the dance form and its prominent figures. Devarattam, a traditional Tamil Nadu folk dance, is performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community, both historically and in contemporary times. While the dance incorporates 32 to 72 steps, the fundamental choreography consists of 32 basic movements, with variations serving as alternatives.

Devarattam dancers gracefully execute the steps while wielding handkerchiefs in each hand and wearing anklets (salangai). The rhythmic accompaniment is provided by the Deva Thunthumi, a unique musical instrument integral to the performance.
