Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku? Battle of Sudoku lets you compete against other players or teams in a thrilling multiplayer version of the classic puzzle game. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Game Setup and Difficulty:

Before starting, choose a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest). This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone starts with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

Select your game mode in the options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correct number placed is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points for that number.
• Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Correct numbers are not visible to other players, allowing multiple players to potentially earn points for the same number.

Time Penalties:

Incorrectly placed numbers result in a time-out, preventing the player from making further moves for a configurable period (default 30 seconds).

Scoring:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect numbers deduct points (half the value of a correct number).

Winning the Game:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. In the mode where correct numbers are visible to all, the player with the most points wins. If opponent's numbers are hidden, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though other players can still win based on their overall score.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Choose to play individually or on a team (teams 1 or 2). In team mode, points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar provides tools to aid in solving:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present in a square removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares.
