Marvel Brings Back Baddie From 2008's Iron Man for MCU Vision Quest Series

Marvel's upcoming Vision Quest series is reportedly bringing back a villain from the very first MCU film, Iron Man.

Deadline reports that Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the leader of an Afghan terrorist group in Iron Man's opening scenes. Nearly two decades after his initial appearance, where he held Tony Stark captive before being betrayed by Obadiah Stane, al-Wazar is set for an MCU return.

Al-Wazar's reappearance, similar to Samuel Sterns' return in Captain America: Brave New World, adds another layer to the MCU's continuity. While initially portrayed as a generic terrorist leader, Phase 4 retconned his group as a branch of the Ten Rings, significantly expanding his backstory. This connection to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings suggests a potential link to Vision Quest.

Vision Quest, starring Paul Bettany as White Vision, currently lacks a release date. The series, however, may delve into lesser-known or forgotten aspects of the MCU's past, much like Deadpool & Wolverine explored the Fox Marvel universe's discarded elements.

The series will also reportedly feature the return of James Spader as Ultron, marking his first appearance since Avengers: Age of Ultron. Details about the show remain scarce.
